Where I Go to Talk and Learn with Other Educators

The above link is the how-to on making your classroom a community. I posted it to my wiki to share with teachers that are interested in exploring and utilizing all that Edmodo has to offer. I know there are a few grade groups at Goldsmith that will be interested in joining and collaborating in a virtual PLC with me. Teachers will be able to create and manage their personal content library in a cloud based environment. They can also share all content for a unit of study through library folder sharing. Both of these options combined with the intentional vertical collaboration that Edmodo has to offer would be relevant for any elementary teacher.
The 2nd article I read on how Edmodo takes teaching and learning across the globe shows how teachers can customize their own PLN and collaborate beyond their classroom walls. This opportunity exists for teachers as well as their students. Getting teachers comfortable with collaborating with one another will, hopefully, open their eyes to the possibilities for them with their students. Simply being able to join groups on Edmodo and exchange ideas, explore resources, and ask questions about specific topics brings down the walls of our school community and opens us up to a world of resources.
The similarities between Edmodo and Facebook make Edmodo so much more user friendly. The logistics behind the use of the site and the ease of understanding its possibilities is much more clear. I feel like once I can get teachers on Edmodo and started with collaborative conversation they will catch on quickly to the opportunities it offers.
I love what this PLN has done for my plans for the upcoming school year. I want to focus in on supporting the improvement in instruction at every level. I believe that begin true, ongoing, daily collaboration with teachers and administration will keep us all on top of the struggles, questions, ideas, and innovations happening throughout our building and beyond.
